Session 5: BEARS!

(If you don't get the references of the title, go watch this Youtube video. ^_^)

Today I made a new friend, Esmee Ghostblade. She is very glib and creepy but she helped me out when I got a summons from Merle Ambrose. She is also making the Watchtower Hall so we have a common goal in the future, woo! ^_^

I had almost forgotten about Baldur's land, Grizzleheim, which I had visited briefly to established a trade route between Wizard City and his world... but now Bartleby had fixed the Spiral Door to Grizzleheim and...

Yeah, it's not a Raven, go ahead and sue me - Rare is going to get my number for using a Googled image of their duo. :(
I got the Spiral Key to the world! What's this bear and bird on it for? Oh well! ^_^

I found Zeke there, chilling in both terms of the word(he probably has long john undies but I wasn't that crass to ask him, hee hee!), so I agreed to help him find some wooden yard birds Turns out that Mr. Lincoln must have visited Grizzleheim as the birds are in his image!

Anyways, I had forgotten to mention that I was also collecting scarabs for him in Krok-T, and already got all the ones in the Pyramid and Oasis, so I just need the ones in the Krokosphinx and Tomb of Storms on the other islands, but I still have to complete the Throne Room of Fire, but for now I have to prove to the people of Grizz to accept me as one of their heroes... not easy when the population doesn't seem to have any females. (I was proven wrong later but not until much much later, like after I became Grandmaster. Wait, how can I predict the future?!)

I met my first Raven, Hugnir, and he sent me on some tasks to collect ingredients to craft a fate-seeing potion to see my future while I did some tasks to prove my worth to the leader of the war band, Hagen Shieldbreaker. His voice was honey amongst the bears(get my pun - honey, bears? ^_^) and I fought a bunch of ghosts of bear warriors.

Then I had to prove myself in battle to Ygnvar Sharptooth, one of their greatest heroes, but Esmee supported me with her undead minions and made sure the battlefield was leveled by defeating the mook who was with the ghostly hero. (First time I used Animate and I don't like it already - the skeletal warrior was destroyed quickly.)

I found a few interesting seeds but they were too strong for me to plant, I needed to be an Initiate Gardener and my garden was coming along slowly. *sigh* Oh well, I am going to keep at it.

I also helped a bear philosopher called Snorri Oysterbloom. He asked me to talk to Hagen about a question which I thought was ridiculous - why wouldn't a bear sit in the woods? Every has to sit sometimes, or else their legs would get tired! Hagen told me to kill some Grendels for the answer.

But first I had to deal with some boar-men barbarians who attack the camp. I took some time to take out Frithir, a nasty little fairy who was a pain with her two imps. Esmee dealt with one and I took out the others with Cyclops. I got a nice fur coat, which I swapped my favorite outfit out for - it was a good idea as my body was freezing, this place is much colder than the last time I visited. I hope it wasn't some bad omen...

(Also, once I get enough Crowns, I will get a permanent Sea Turtle mount and trade my broom it for it. I really enjoy riding on this thing! ^_^)

No fair using my spell against me!!! :(

The boar-barians(ha ha, me funny :p) were difficult as the Ragers were tougher, but they were Storm so I was able to do a lot of damage with my Cyclops. I began to see how powerful the puking frog was when Esmee used it from an amulet she owned. Together we rescued Einar, the blacksmith and helped him forge a Spiderbane blade to drive out the Grendels in Drugarth. I managed to get the rest of the ingredients, though I had to deal with spiders. Ugh, I hate arachnids! They're creepy! >_<

After we made the blade(which required beating up a treant to snap him to his senses so he could bless the blade for us), I had to deal with an evil Grendel shaman to get the totem to break into the fort and kill the Grendel Leader. Esmee stabbed him with the spiderbane blade while I summoned the Cyclops to deal with the Darter, and soon Skellek was dead. Yayso!

And I did it without buying a henchman, hoorah! ^_^

I've been building the stacks of wood, cutting the Mist Wood and tempering it with the Simple Vials and Black Coal, and now I've gotten halfway to the required number for my first dream house! It's going by very fast. I can't wait! But for now, I have to go back and help Grace get through the Palace of Fire. Krokosphinx, here we come! :D

(This was just a short update - I sent Sierra through Savarstaad Pass so she could catch up to Grace experience-wise, thanks to Grace getting experience she wouldn't have gotten until later. Also, I didn't list all of the quests she did because some of them were side-quests, like beating up Wildroot to find out if a tree makes a sound. Yeah, really. Well, Snorri gave enough experience to level up Sierra to Level 21, so now she's ahead of Grace, who is only halfway there. Ouch!)
