Crafting the Watchtower Hall - Part 2

Sierra here again with the next part of crafting the Watchtower Hall! This is a task that will start you in Wizard City and go all the way to Dragonspyre! Now for the next crafted reagent...

15 Ornamental Stepstones. You need to turn to Wul'yahm in Krok-T for this one as you not only need the recipe from him, but he won't sell it to you until you pass his crafting tests and get the Apprentice Crafter badge! This is a little harder on time and money than the wood stacks, as the ingredient list is bigger and the cool-down is longer... It took me several days to make all of them, but that gave me plenty of time to advance to Mooshu, where I would need the next crafting step. (Felicia doesn't contribute any reagents to this house project, sorry!)

The ingredient list is a little bigger too. To get all 15 Stepstones, you need a total of:
  • 60 Shadow Oils
  • 15 Simple Vials
  • 210 lumps of Ore
  • 90 Nightshade
  • 300 blobs of Ectoplasm
Whew! The ore and ghost guts are the ones you must get the most of, but I had some help with my pen pals, as they had gathered tons of the stuff during their trips through Mooshu(spectral undead like the ghosts and banshees usually drop this as a common drop) and Dragonspyre(Chris Storycrafter and Mindy Goldheart would have never gotten those rings for their Master Artisan badges had they not found a farming spot in the Atheneum!), so it wasn't too bad.

(Chris actually purchased all the Ectoplasm I would need, sweet! ^_^ As I said before, you might get lucky in the bazaar, you might not.)

The Nightshade is probably your hardest ingredient as it is a rare harvest of Deep Mushroom, which are usually found in tombs and other places. This is probably where you will start gathering the recipes to transmute stuff into things because it's easier and more common to get Deep Mushrooms and then transmute them into Nightshade. (You can get the Transmute for Nightshade recipe from Wul'yahm) I decided to just make the stepstones as I got the ingredients instead of hoarding them, as it's much harder to do. The last crafted items will be almost impossible to hoard ingredients for, so it's best just to craft them as you get the items to make them.

Another important thing is that these items CANNOT be created with the Basic Crafting Station - from now on, you will have to invest in the specialty crafting stations - Housing(for the stepstones) and Card(which handles transmutes as well); be sure to grab an Equipment Crafting station as well for the later crafting quests from Mooshu and Dragonspyre. You can buy all of these as early as the Krokosphinx from the Mander next to the housing shop.

Also, crafting will take a lot longer. The cool-down time for the Stepstones is an hour and fifteen minutes, so if you have only two slots, expect to spend over eight hours making these. I used a Crafting Elixir for the first (I had just made the Powniards of Gallantry for my crafting badge and they took an hour of cool-down time) but I waited patiently for the rest of them. If you want to be a little spendy, you can use Crafting Elixirs, but I didn't have all the reagents either so it was pointless to cool down immediately as I couldn't craft the rest right away.

The next part will not happen for a long time as the next set of crafted reagents requires an Adept Crafter badge and I won't get that until I get to Mooshu, so sayonara! ^_^
