Welcome and hello! It is I, El To--- I mean, Sierra the Frugal Conjurer, though I am not so frugal now that I blew my wads on sunstones, but that's a moot point.
I was tempted to make this interlude be just about my newest crafting training, but I decided that if you guys are too lazy and won't go watch Crafting Videos like THIS or THIS, I should at least enlighten you on what you are in for if you decide to take up crafting, and trust me, you should - unless you love farming the Loremaster for lore spells. ;)
I have a few friends who will help me out on this, so let's get started!
Quest Name: "Wizards in the Mist" (reward: Basic Crafting Table and first crafting slot) |
Your crafting begins as soon as you first enter Olde Town, and Eudora Tangletree here is your first crafting teacher. She has you go fetch some Mist Wood so she can build a crafting table. You can't give her any you got, you have to go get some. And you can't cheap out and buy it at the bazaar, you actually have to go find a bunch of sticks and pick them up. Luckily, you can find Mist Wood spawners in Unicorn Way near the park.
Quest Name: "The Razor's Edge" (reward: Novice Crafter badge) |
Once you get your Mist Wood and give it to her, you get a Basic Crafting Table - don't get too attached to it, you won't be keeping it around forever. You will then get your first crafting quest - create two Daggers of Absolution. Daggers of Absolution actually end up being a reagent for the Wizard City teleport tapestries, which is great.
Since you only have one crafting slot, you will have to wait for the cooldown. Luckily, this time it's only 30-60 seconds, depending on your account status. (We all have pseudo-sub status so all cool-down timers are cut in half, another reason to get a subscription!)
The items you need for this quest are really simple and can all be bought at the bazaar or with Elmer Meadowgrass, the reagent supplier next to Eudora. You need a total of:
- 4 Sapphire
- 8 Black Coal
- 4 Mist Wood
- 4 Cattails
The former two are bought from Elmer for a flat rate and the latter two are bought at the Bazaar for a fluctating rate depending on how much there is in stock. I will also point out where you can get the items that you can only buy in the Bazaar. Unicorn Way is an excellent place to find spawners for Mist Wood and Cat Tails, but there are tons of Cat Tails in Marleybone and Mist Wood in Grizzleheim.
Quest: "Ring in the New" (reward: 2nd crafting slot) |
After you deliver the daggers to Eudora, she'll direct you to Wul'yahm in Krokotopia, who will give you two crafting quests. The first will get you another crafting slot so you can craft two items at once. You need to craft two Rings of Insight. You need a total of...
- 2 Citrine
- 12 Simple Vials
- 8 Parchment
- 12 Stone Block
This is where things get harder as one of the ingredients is Parchment, which is not easy to get. You also need Stone Blocks, which are nearly impossible to find in the Bazaar. You can harvest them fro dead-end areas in the Pyramid of the Sun, but it's going to be long and difficult; the best place to get them in is in the Entrance Hall in the Krokosphinx. You'll need to realm-hop(switch realms) to get good spawns. The other items can be bought from Al Saf'wan, the golem behind Wul'yahm.
The cool-down time is 30 minutes, so if you have the Crowns, get a Crafting Elixir for 250 of them. I've gifted one to Destiny Sunsword(Christina's pen pal) because I am planning on helping her quest when I need to. (I had only 490 Crowns left so be careful about using the elixirs; only do it when you have to. Later cool-downs are insanely long so the Crafting Elixirs are a pretty investment.)
Quest: "A Set of Steak Knives" (reward: Apprentice Crafter badge) |
- 12 Jade
- 6 Simple Vials
- 10 Deep Mushrooms
- 12 Stone Block
Quest: "Craft Services" (reward: Initiate Crafter badge) |
After those quests are done, Wul'yahm points you to Felicia Worthington, who is hanging out next to the elevator to Digmoore Station in Marleybone. As she says, she skips the formalities and just gives you one crafting quest, but it's a doozy - you must craft TWO of TWO items - the Stinger of the Scorpion athame and the Constellation Jewel rings. This requires a total of...
- 8 Rubies
- 4 Jade
- 2 Citrine
- 16 Glass Vials
- 32 Scrap Iron
- 20 Stone Blocks
- 20 Mist Wood
BEWARE: You won't be able to craft all of the items and you'll be stuck with a five-hour cool-down for both of them, so you'll have to quest it out or use a Crafting Elixir.
That's it for now! Next update, I'll tell you how to do the next three quests. Cheers! ^_^
Sorry, the links to the crafting quest videos by Zenmaster Blue and Blaze Lifehammer are MIA. :(
ReplyDeleteNote: The update also changed the quests - in the past, you lost the items you crafted for the quests. Now you keep them, which is great because these athames and rings are needed for teleport tapestry recipes!
ReplyDeleteNote 2: About the crafting elixirs - a nice update is that when you buy one from the Crown Shop, you have the option to not use it and put it in your backpack(which they added a slot for). This is great if you have a lot of crowns early on, just spend them on your elixirs and put them in your backpack for later.
Note 3: Each crafting quest(or the first one in the first five worlds), gives you a free crafting slot up to eight. This means you can do some of the crafting quests and still have spaces to craft other items! ^_^
The elixir option is also available for all elixirs, so if you are making a Monster Dome with Monstrology, you can buy a lot of Triple Animus Elixirs at a Crowns sale and then use them when you are ready to farm animus.
