"Like, RUDE!" said Chloe, sharpening her blades.
"Oh, forgive me young ones," said Zanetta. "I assumed you were with the Titan Army, but you are another prospective set of students. Hurrah, the desire to learn is born anew!"
"That's, like, totally sarcastic," said Chloe. "I don't like, you know, that tone of voice!"
"Shhh!" I hissed.
"A pity I have nothing to teach," said Zanetta. "The Titan Army ravaged our stores and stole all of our knowledge crystals. I know... your first assignment; a field trip! Go and defeat Manascale Sorcerers until you recover the crystals."
"Wow, what a ru---" I muffled my little Medusa before she got me in trouble.
"So now you know how I feel at times, Mma," sighed Grace, shaking her head.
"I do NOT offend!" said Penny angrily. "Ooh, let's just get those crystals!"
To punish Chloe for being a jerk, I had her help me recover Mana Sparks for a poor teacher whose students had gotten lost. The minotaur barbarians who had them took forever to drop them. But I did it and rescued the souls of the lost students. I began to cry deeply - these poor children had their lives snuffed out by the Dragon Titan. At least they could rest in peace now. (I avoided the last side-quest but took this one now as, hey, chances are you'll land a Horned Barbarian 5 times out of 10 while farming the Manascale Sorcerers. It's almost impossible to get nothing but Manascales.)
We zapped the Manascales and collected the require set of crystals.
We returned the crystals to Zanetta, who made us examine one to learn about the ways of history.
"Five of their greatest warriors," mumbled Christina. "This is gonna be fun. I'm outtie." She left.
"Because of me, many have learned the knowledge once reserved for kings! Show me, student, whether you will fight for knowledge!" |
Luckily, a fellow Conjurer called Wolf came and helped out us with the first test, Inoa. Of course we were helpless as this woman was Myth-element, but Grace fixed things up with Triton. ^_^
"You have proven you are willing to fight knowledge," said Iona as she faded. "If only the professors of Dragonspyre had learned this lesson..."
"Are you clearly deaf, you bim---" Chloe began before I gagged her again.
"Sorry, she's antsy," I said. "We're ready for battle #2."
"Hmmm..." she said. "Let's see if you truly appreciate what I have to offer you." I was glad Chloe was gagged lest she be offensive again. "The Crystal of Battle was taken by Orin Grimcaster during the raids. I fought him to his tower, but then the Dragon Titan stopped me. Maybe you will have beter luck getting the crystal back."
I gulped. Was the Titan awake? No, that wasn't right.
The trip up the tower was long and hard but luckily, no titan stopped us from beating up the ghast and taking the crystal from his undead hands.
"We'll see," I muttered.
Wolf was jumping the gun and fighting the spook when we used the Crystal. :(
Luckily, we beat her as well, and yes, there was the usage of Triton again. It's a powerful spell.
"You have fought bravely, wizards," said Katia. "You are the ones we feared would come... the ones we need to set things right."
Zanetta was getting a little upset at what I told her.
Chloe was free of the gag. "You are SOOOOO dense, you spook!" she snapped. "You should stop covering your eyes and..." I kicked her. "Ow!"
"Well, I know for a fact that the Crystal of Honor was not tampered with," said Zanetta. "It has been kept safely in storage. Go get it and take your next test."
"Prove to me that you are above the influence of liars and leaders. Defeat me in fair battle to pass this lesson." |
Needless to say, he was defeated by the Pigs. (Being Storm sucks against two Myths. ^_^)
"You show admirable promise as a student," he said as he faded. "One of our students warned us abuot the Aldared Crystal, but we did not listen. Sadly, we learned nothing from that mistake."
Zanetta was confused at what Valerik had said.
"You never know, Mma Stormbreaker," said Grace. "You might be surprised."
Zanetta shook her head. "Well, the Crystal of Defense... I know that the Titan Army didn't touch it, I have kept it all this time!" She handed me a crystal. "Take your next test."
"I was the only wizard to defeat a warrior in straight combat. Pass my test and you can defend yourself against anyone." |
Easy peasy. ^_^
"Our duel proves you've learned much in your time here," said Rurik as he faded away. "My fellow wizards learned only to fear threats to their power, and so they doomed Dragonspyre."
I then realized how things went - someone summoned the Dragon Titan to destroy his paranoia-generated "enemies" and that caused the world to be torched to ashes. I shook my head.
Malistaire... I think I understand what he was going for and it was insane.
Chloe got a smug smile.
"I do not know what our spirits want to teach you, Wizards," said Zanetta. "But you have one more test. I saw the Titan Army destroy the last crystal..." My heart sank. "But I have a solution, we make a new one. Go speak to Belia Windgazer in the Great Chasm, she might know of an empty Knowledge Crystal in one of her vaults."
Belia opened the vault for us and we found a lot of ancient golems who were not happy to be disturbed. Luckily, a male Thaumaturge called Joshua Shadowstone helped us get to the crystals and we picked up a nice blue crystal with no light. It was empty.
I was getting tired of the vaults.
"One of our greatest heroes died during the great raid and we buried him within the Necropolis," she said. "His name was Boris Blackrock, the Lord Obsidian. Though he fought like none other against the Great Titan, he was one of the first to fall. We were able to give Boris Blackrock a hero's burial in the Necropolis before the war eneded and we gave him the title of Lord Obsidian. I am sure he will want to help us again. Go to the Necropolis and find his tomb and put the Knowledge Crystal on it, and his spirit will be absorbed into it. Then come back for your final test."
Guardians made our trek down the tomb of Boris Blackrock harsh, but we managed with Joshua's help. I cursed myself when I had used a potion and found health wisps on the second floor! :(
But we absorbed the spirit and hurried back to the Crucible for the final fight...
(I was an idiot and forgot to switch to my Ninja Pigs so I had the weak Humongofrog, but Christina suddenly arrived and helped us out with Judgement.)
(Christina: Hey, I had made peace with you two and I swore to help you guys out, right? ^_^)
Boris faded away. "You have fought as none other. I salute you as the heroes of Dragonspyre."
The three of us smiled and nodded then returned to Zanetta.
"It's no big deal," I said, smiling. Not even the looming dragon overhead busted my mood.
"You and your friend are now admitted into Dragonspyre Academy," said Zanetta. "It is customary for new students to be given portal stones to the Academy Ring. Go to the Dean of Admissions in that tower..." She pointed to a tower nearby. "And he will give you your stones."
Unfortunately, the Dean was not there and his assistant knew nothing of his whereabouts. Which led me to the person I knew had the answers...
"He was the leader of the group who had summoned the Dragon Titan!" He shook his head. "Just as the Titan appeared, we locked him up in the Laby---"
Our eyes lit up. "Pls!" we cried.
"Oh yes, you two were asking about things in the Labyrinth," said Milos. He sighed and handed over a key. "I didn't want to give this to you yet but now you need the Portal Stones to the Academy, here is the key to the Labyrinth, but..."
We weren't listening. We could finally finish our Professors' request! ^_^
