I decided it was time for a new look - my old clothes were starting to show their age and this lovely robe felt right for me. (I plan on having her final mount be fairy wings as her last name is Fairyfriend.) I also got a brown spider from that pagoda. It creeped me out so I put it in the basement. (Christina got a Stone Colossus and TWO Brown Spiders!) (Also, apologies for the lack of the robe in the next pictures; I took these before I did the Midnight Sun Pagoda, so they are inconsistent.)
Before me and Christina left for the pagoda, I spoke with Tan Keng, the head monk. He was grateful and told me what I needed to do. I needed to recover the Emperor's Mind, Body and Spirit. First off was his spirit, which was warring with the evil inside of the wound, and to do that, I needed to recover his katana, which was stolen during the week he had been in his coma by one of the pig warlords, Katsumori.
He directed me to Shojiro Gama, the samoorai general leading the relief efforts in Hamatsu Village. The place was in ruins, fires were blazing all over the place and even my efforts couldn't put them out. Worse, Shojiro took a nasty gash to the side by Katsumori's forces. Ninja pigs and trolls crawled all over the paths out of town and it was a nightmare, the people were trapped in the village.
But I reunited with Grace. "You're looking different, Mma," she said, grinning.
"Thanks, I just found out what happened," I said. I told her about what I learned from the Jade Champion. Grace got a furrowed brow.
"We must hurry and find a way to get the key to Dragonspyre," she said. "Otherwise, we will all become late." She looked around and shook her head. "I came here to find a way to Dragonspyre only to find chaos. We must end this war before it reaches the Palace."
I nodded. "We have to find the Emperor's sword too. If we can get it back to him, we can heal him and then he might be able to help us get to Dragonspyre. Hopefully Malistaire takes forever to cast that ritual he's casting now."
Penny saw the book I was holding. "What is that?"
"Oh, this old thing?" I said, smiling. "I found it in a pagoda me and Christina explored. It told me the history of how the Spiral was created to what it is today." I frowned. "For some reason it went blank but I can't help but hold onto it and use it as a weapon..."
"Take it," said Grace, smiling. "It is your lucky charm. Where I come from, we are told that there are things in this world who have spirits that act as our guardian spirits. This must be yours."
I giggled but decided to hold onto it.
And it somehow functioned well as a weapon as I found out - there was amazing magic bound to this book. (This is the Mystic Grimoire weapon I got from the Spiral Cup Bundle. I'm using the Level 40 one because the Level 100 one has horrible stats. The Tier 5 one[given at Level 40] gives an Accurate Sun-elemental card along with wand attacks. Accurate isn't really necessary for Sierra but it's okay. Once we get some Level 60 wands for her, I'll transmog this into the book.)
We did what we could and healed Shojiro and helped him mess up the army. After defeating Do-Daga and taking his notes to Shojiro, he informed us that Warlord Katsumori had planted a spy in Tatateki outpost, which was supposed to be protecting the village. We decided to investigate.
Just as we passed the gate, I went into a coma. I had a dream where I was being attacked by clockworks in Marleybone, and I recognized the place - Kensington Park! I screamed in terror... and then Wizard Mercury appeared. "You need to be brave," she said. "The trials beyond Malistaire will be much harder. I know, I have been there."
She cast a spell with the symbol of the crescent moon and suddenly turned into a mouse-man wearing a helmet with deer antlers and viciously attacked a clockwork wizard. A trap was placed on it. I was stunned at this new type of magic.
In another battle, she enshrouded herself with shadowy energy and became a terrifying creature of darkness that cast shields in front of me. These shields took some of the damage against me and gave it to her. "Do not be afraid, Sierra, for you are destined to be a child of light and shadow, and this is power you must master in order to defeat the Shadow Queen."
Shadow Queen... those words echoed in my head as we fought our way to an iron golem called Stoker, who was trying to take over Marleybone. We defeated him twice and my Ninja Pigs and Amy's Blizzards prevailed...
"Mma! MMA!!!"
I woke up in a dojo on a cot. "Are you okay, Mma?" asked Penny. "We were worried sick when you passed on while we were on the way to Tatekai Outpost."
"Sorry," I muttered. "I just had a..."
"Spirit journey," whispered Grace. "It's okay, Mma. My parents told me that those destined for greatness must walk the spirit world and learn what is expected of them. I... I walked one when I was a child, before I started my detective agency."
I shuddered. Was this new shadowy magic and the strange spell that made Amy into a mouse briefly going to be part of my repetoire in the future? Who was this Shadow Queen? I decided to put that on the back burner until we dealt with Malistaire.
(I had to put this dream sequence in for a purpose - I had Sierra complete Kensington Park with Amy Mistcloud because I wanted to try out Amy's new spells - yep, she FINALLY got through Eclipse Tower, thanks to Justin, a guy who was double-boxing a Myth and a Fire wizard. I owe Justin Titanfist and Justin Mythcaster my thanks for helping Amy get through Atach-Lang and the Tower. Oh, and Amy did solo the Brood Mother second fight but was dropped to 330 HP. At least THOSE ordeals are behind us. I could have gone on, but it was midnight and I needed my sleep.)
(Also, I'm ending this part as I think Blogger is having issues when I just save a blog to a draft and breaks pictures. I'm going to take a break from KingsIsle - stupid banditoads murdered Sarah Steele and I have to wait an hour to revive her - but I'll work on the next update this weekend. Ciao!)
