Session 7e: The Spiral Cup is Claimed

(Finally, we get to the end of Wysteria! Next post, it's back to normal Sierra diary entries! I hope you enjoyed this little mini series. I hope you enjoy the finale, as I worked hard to choreograph the whole thing. Enjoy! ^_^)

"I can't believe it," I said as I saw the Green Men myself, they were hideous and alien and moved like they were a hive mind. I knew we had to defeat a few to get some vines from them. They were very durable and it took a little while to get the foliage, but we got them.

(Green Men are the strongest mobs you will fight before Mooshu - they have 735 HP and are Life but also spam Sunbird, Storm Shark and Evil Snowman. Ouch! Did I also mention that, being Life enemies, they use Sprite and Spirit Armor? You do not have to fight the Barkskin Treants, but they have the same stats and moves, sans the elemental attacks. Sierra had to flee and got pulled into a separate battle because Grace's minion took the spot she had fled.)

We were given an alert that it was time for our duels for the semi-finals. We wished each other good luck. Nalia was... well, I guess she was holding back because she owed Grace a favor for finding her wand. She wasted her pips on Frost Beetle before she realized she had to buff her attacks but I summoned the pig warrior and defeated her in one shot.

(Nalia was a joke all around. Even with a Weakness on her, Grace Krakened her to oblivion and she didn't even TRY against Sierra. Also, crazy animation glitch.)

Grace told me about Randolf. He had used a Shatter to destroy any Tower Shields Grace put up even though it wasn't his turn to attack! I knew he was a little cheat but didn't see so until now. However, Penny put that lousy cheater in his place with her Siren sisters. ^_^

(Randolf is the first of a huge legacy of Gimmick Bosses, also called Cheating Bosses because they don't follow the proper rules of battle and have a proc gimmick that they use before you can act if you do certain things. Later bosses will do their Gimmicks if you FAIL to do certain things, which is a lot more fatal to your wizard and can cost you battles. Randolf's Gimmicks are these: He interrupts with Shatter every second round to destroy all your shields, and when you attack him without a shield on yourself, he says "You won't last long without shields!" and interrupts with Vampire, which heals him. Also, he spams Storm Shield but oddly enough he didn't use it against Grace, and a buffed up Otomo Fury pierced Randolf's resistance and did enough damage to one-shot him, even without a Prism when he used one Storm Shield. And yes, this is out of order.)

We then spoke with Groundskeeper Verne, who told us that Chester had been studying the Green Men and to talk to him, but the Professor of Earth started acting suspicious and told us to meet him in his office. I didn't like it at all...

Especially since there was a huge earthen tunnel covered with huge vines!

"Oh no!" I cried. "He's trying to silence us! He's in cahoots with those abominations!"

"He will not get away with it," sneered Penny. "We have a powerful weapon!"

"I know, your sirens," I said. "But..."

"Something stronger," said Grace.

I found out what it was... a powerful tidal wave destroyed the mutants and knocked out Chester.

"That was a spell that Rra Balestrom calls 'Tempest'," said Grace. "It is connected to my magical pip strength, so I have to set up, but when I do hit, it is mighty indeed. I went through a few quests, including helping Rra Jadehaven defeat Krokenhamen again to get this spell."

I whistled in glee. "Let's get out of this heckhole. I have allergies."

(Yep, Grace got the Tempest spell thanks to a little underhandedness by me. Of course this was just a treasure card I had held onto for a while, which does more damage until we get to Grandmaster with this girl.)

Chester thanked us profusely for saving his sanity and then explained that his soul was being held by Lord Bramble, a wicked tree troll who had made Chester steal my ring - he grabbed my ring out of hte two rings - and framed me in order to get Ravenwood and Pigswick so hateful towards each other that Pigswick would get destroyed and Lord Bramble could reclaim the academy with his vines. That really got me ticked off.

"Time to go trim some tree trolls, Grace," I sneered.

(Grace is not in the picture because I accidentally talked to Chester when I was clicking on the alert from Harold Argleston - yep, the Lost Pages events triggered around this time.)

It turns out that Lord Bramble was hiding in the tower which Grace had spotted when she first visited Tanglewood Way, so we stormed off there and barged in.

"You are a sick freak of nature!" shouted Penny. "You will regret ever messing with my boss's friends and we'll burn you to the ground!"

Grace, who had gotten a little ticked off at her pet's rantings, was in agreement. "Let's go."

The battle was not difficult at all despite them sending an army of leprechauns and treants at us. (I had to use the Cyclops but buffed up to the max, it left Lord Bramble with 15 HP! Seriously, Sierra destroyed Taylor Froghead, who had over 300 more HP than this guy! ;p Grace Krakened the Green Man and, despite getting hit with a Weakness, one-shot it.)

"Here's the Spiral Cup, Mma," said Grace as she put it over her back. "Let's hurry to Mma Crisp and tell her the good news."

"Let me finish this book first," I said, reading the last of the Pigswick papers...

"To spread the world of Pigswick's educational innovations, Headmaster Pigswick started a magical tournament. Students representing all of the different schools of magic from across the Spiral were invited to compete. The Spiral Cup was selected as the Grand Prize, a fitting symbol of magic supremacy and skill. Though in the past it has been won by Ravenwood and Mooshu, for many years the Spiral Cup has been claimed by Pigswick. Coincidentally, the years Pigswick won the Spiral Cup were also years in which no other schools appeared to compete."

"So," said Penny sourly. "This mockery of a magic school was just holding the cup due to cheating and making sure nobody else competed. They do not DESERVE this prize. Let us tell that harlot that the Cup is ours now."

"We shall be polite about it, Mma," said Grace. "Let's go."

(I stupidly forgot to have Sierra grab the Spiral Cup - I am having a bad habit of not checking the quest arrow to make sure I have gotten stuff and having to go back into boss battles to get them! I had Grace pull Lord Bramble into battle so Sierra could sneak around him and get the Cup, then Grace fled after Sierra teleported away. It cost Grace all her mana but it was a necessary evil.)

After we returned the doll holding Chester's soul to him, we returned the Spiral Cup to Crisp. "I don't see why we have to do this," I said. "The only competitors left are us, we defeated everyone else, so by default Ravenwood wins the Spiral Cup!"

"Yes," said Belladonna. "We have lost the Spiral Cup. HOWEVER, the rules state that you two still are in contention. Therefore, you two must duel each other to determine who in Ravenwood will be keeping the Cup. It is only a formality but since two wizards from Ravenwood are competing, it is only fair to make sure this is closed properly."

We looked at each other and I felt ill. I realized that we'd have to fight each other to determine who wins the Spiral Cup and the tournament. But I put on a brave face. "Come on, Grace. Let's do this."

Grace nodded. "Very well, Mma. If we are to support each other against Malistaire, we must prove that we can defeat him, and that means testing each other. We shall go to the tournament hall."

"This sucks, Mma," said Penny sadly. "But I am only a secretary..."

"Are you certain you want to do this?" I asked as we entered the Hall of The Unicorn, a special place for our match to commence. "I mean... you can back out and we can fight this."

"No, Mma," said Grace, shaking her head. "I vowed as the #1 Lady Storm Private Detective that I would not back down from any obstacle. And we must push ourselves to the limit to prepare for when we eventually confront Rra Malistaire."

I shuddered at the thought. But then... what if we got the Krokonomicon? Then this would be put to rest and Malistaire's plan would be defeated at the end! Something bothered me but I nodded slowly. "If you want to fight me, I'll give it my best!"

"As will I," said Grace, smirking. "We will not hold back."

"I won't either," I giggled as we entered the arena and began our match.

(This is Amy's arena from her Tower of the Winter Winds. I found I was able to port both girls to it by having Sierra port to Amy and then Amy logged off and Grace ported in. I didn't know that the houses of your wizards are still viable even if the wizard who owns them has logged off! This was good as I found the Practice PvP arena in Unicorn Way doesn't work for setting up 1v1 matches.)

I won't bore you with the details of our duel, but we put all our Tower Shields up and I had an Elemental Shield from my boots, so I was very well-protected against any storm spell she had. I knew nothing much about Penny's special spell but was ready to take the hit...

Until she did this.

"I was going to use this against Rra Spellshine, but he never used a Storm Shield," Grace laughed as I watched my shields crumble to dust. I was stunned by two things (1) I could learn that spell and (2) I was in danger of being defeated. She had a Tower Shield up and I had no way to destroy it...

But summoning the pig warrior surprised me... it knocked Grace out and won me the duel. "Oh no, are you all right?" I cried as I ran up to her, and she was dizzy.

"Look what you did!" shouted Penny angrily.

Grace held her head. "It is all right, my secretary. We can use a potion and talk to Mma Brewer back int the Fairgrounds, it is not a big loss." She smiled and held my shoulders. "I am impressed! To be honest, had we used Penny's skill, you might have lost, but I did not use it as I wanted to be fair."

"Huh?" I said.

"When I summon my sisters, their fury destroys all blades and blinds your eyes," said Penny proudly. "That means you would have a weak attack that would be inaccurate."

I gasped. "Thank you," I whispered. "But you are pretty clever too. Still, I accept victory."

(Wow, even with Myth Resist and a Tower Shield, a buffed up Otomo Fury one-shotted my Diviner! True, she had only around 1300 health but still... daaaaang... 2843 damage even with shields!)

We returned to Belladonna and she sighed and handed me the giant gold trophy. "Tell Merle Ambrose," she added. "That when the tournament rolls around in two years, we will take the Spiral Cup back, mark my words."

"Then you'd better learn REAL magic, chura!" said Penny, who did a rude gesture with her fingers and tongue. I was too entranced by the glowing Spiral in the cup to notice.

We returned victorious to our own Headmaster and he praised us. "I shall bow out of further magical tournaments, Rra," said Grace. "We have an important investigation to handle."

"I will help my friend, Grace," I added.

"It is perfectly fine," chortled Ambrose. "I am just glad Ravenwood finally recovered the Spiral Cup after three tournaments. To be honest, we sent the best we could but..."

"You need not say more," said Grace, holding up a hand. "I knew what happened. But I put that cheating pig in his place." She smirked slyly. "Now if you do not mind, we would like to continue investigating Krokotopia."

Ambrose agreed to let us continue but pulled me aside. "A messenger bird from Grizzleheim came. It seems they need your assistance."

I nodded. "Okay, I'll get on when I can. Thanks, Headmaster."

But first, I had to display my trophy, the Spiral Cup. I also found a desk with the Storm Symbol on it and put it in my farmhouse, as a memoir of my best friend, Grace.

(And that ends the prose. I hope you enjoyed it. I found the Storm Desk in the Bazaar and had to buy it because I think Grace and Sierra work so great together! I'll get back to the regular updates next time, but leave a comment if you want to give me feedback. Should I do more fanfic-like updates for special events in the future? Do you like my guides on building your own houses like Watchtower Hall? Let me know and enjoy the last two days of the 22nd Winter Olympics. ^_^)

The Adventures of Wizard Moon: The Final Battle

(This is the last part of the Lost Pages posts. I hope you enjoyed reading this even if I did use a few images from Google. I promise that I won't mess around with the story much after this - we'll get back to your regularly schedule stories of Sierra Fairyfriend, the tightwad wizard, after this and the last Wysteria part. I really enjoy the Lost Pages even if they are a pain in the kaiser to deal with; having enemies randomly transform into tougher enemies with a themed boss at the end is really a nifty thing to do! I do feel a little bad that the only good drops from the bosses are Dragon-based housing items and the experience reward is cruddy but I think KI didn't want wizards to get a lot of experience from these quests and get to Level 95 too quickly. Enjoy!)

My name is Sierra Fairyfriend, age 16, attending Ravenwood Academy...

Due to Boris Tallstaff's stupidity in leaving the Book of Lost Pages in the stacks and letting the Carpe Diem Society, a group of innocent young students of each school save Balance, read it, the Spiral shuddered under the attacks of spellwrit monsters controlled by the possess Diems... the Wizard Scouts, my friends and allies, fought hard to deal with these evil pages, locking them back up and breaking the possessive control they had over each member...

But one more Page existed, the Page of Embers, and it had hidden itself in a world thought to be lost to the Spiral - Azteca. Wizard Moon, the de factor leader of the Wizard Scouts, took it upon herself to find Bentley Daysong and recover the final page.

(I don't believe this world exists anymore, but I trust the worlds of my friends, the other Scouts, and they told me that their leader did take on the final member of the Society.)

This final page made EXTRA SURE that it would not be found, influencing the most dangerous place in this lost world, the Twin Giants! It turned the Winged Tooths into spellwrit, making them into creature of living flame! It was most difficult to defeat the spellwritten and get the Lost Page of Embers, but in the end it submitted to recovery and banishment to the archives of Wizard City.

(Luckily for us, the Spellwrit Winged Tooths cancelled out most of the Winged Tooths, which Amy needed to kill to advance the story, and that's good because Winged Tooths are Myth, and they enjoy SPAMMING Earthquake! But now, despite the higher health, these Winged Tooths are easily disposed by a super-buff Frost Giant. I was able to get all the quests involving killing Winged Tooth Knights done much more easily, as a lot of people were fighting the Spellwrits and some Winged Tooths got dragged into the fray.)

After recovering the final Lost Page and locking it up, Wizard Moon met with Arthur Wethersfield and he activated the final Dee's Mirror in Twin Giants(I heard he got help from the Eagle Knights to get it up there as they don't enjoy strangers) and Wizard Moon entered...

TO THIS!

(Yeeeeah, a Theurgist and fellow Thaumaturge helped Amy out and you know what happens when you enter a boss battle with three folks! Thankfully we were able to get rid of them.)

But no army could stop Wizard Moon and Wizard Mercury(who was helping her as the battles were the toughest yet) from facing Bentley Daysong, the official leader of the Carpe Diem Society...

"To think that such curses could affect such young innocents is appalling! I'm not going to stand by and let you ruin the lives of these young wizards! The Wizard Soldier of Love and Justice, I am Wizard Moon! Prepare to be punished, evil curse, in the light of the moon!"

They didn't tell me the particulars of the battle but I am sure that it was epic. All they said was that it was a hard battle even with two Wizard Scouts and a couple of allies, but in the end, Bentley Daysong was defeated and with Wizard Moon's healing powers, he was released from the curse.

(Amy was not the first one in the arena so I couldn't get Bentley's picture her either, sorry. Also, the fellow Thaumaturge got pulled into battle before she could switch decks, which was what happened to Amy. UNFORTUNATELY, that fellow Thau used a mob deck involving getting Critical Hits on Blizzard, so she was not exactly well-prepared for this battle, which got worse as the Theurgist Valerian rushed in and the game quickly added two more Jaguars to compensate. Luckily, the Thau, whose name I forgot, got a Critical Hit Blizzard and nobody blocked it, not even Bentley[which is moot because he ALSO RESISTS ICE DESPITE BEING FIRE. The allies managed to get rid of the Shaman horde, allowing Amy to buff up the max[the Thau helped buff her up] and got almost 9000 damage on Bentley from Lord of Winter. The Theurgist tossed in a Spinysaur which brought Bent down to tolerable levels of health and another Lord of Winter took home the victory. woot! ^_^)

At long last the battle was over and the Book of Lost Pages was sealed away. Eventually the spellwrits vanished and all was peaceful again...

To say I'm jealous is an understatement, but I am not bad jealous, I am happy jealous... I admire them as my role models and hope someday I can be a superhero wizard girl too! They gave me some nice souvenirs of their battles and I will cherish them forever! *giggle*

(And there we go. Sierra DID get a couple of cool Dragon-theme housing items from defeating Kestrel and Taylor and the spellwrits she could reach...)

(But Amy cleaned up, woot! *does the bee dance of joy* ^_^)

[The End... for now ^_^]

The Adventures of Wizard Moon: The Untold True Legendbreaker

My name is Sierra Fairyfriend, age 16, attendant of Ravenwood Academy. If you have read my log, you would know I've told amazing stories of the superhero team known as the Wizard Scouts. However, their toughest trials were yet to come...

So tough that it was impossible for anyone who wasn't their power level to help out! The last two Lost Pages were so powerful only the two strongest Scouts could win against them, everyone in Avalon and Azteca was suffering under the curse...

(Actually, I wanted to show this off - this is Amber Rainbow, who had ported to Caliburn only to find Pike Del Lago with no quest for her and close to death. Amy, on the other hand, had gotten the quest from him. Yes MUST complete a few story quests in Avalon to heal Pike before he gives out the quest to defeat Spellwrits. Also, Pacal Redmask will be by the Spiral Door and not talk to you if you port in before getting the quests to unlock Azteca, and even then you have you defeat the Crazed Thunder Horns so he will move to the Zocolo before he gives the quest to defeat Spellwrits. So yeah... no cheating the system here, you MUST be able to get to the worlds in the story before you can do the Lost Pages there. KI was very smart in realizing that they had to make sure you couldn't get the Lost Pages quests without actually being in that part of the story. As such, only Amy Mistcloud could take the final two quests because none of my other wizards had reached Avalon or Azteca, which is fine because Amy wanted closure after failing to get to Mooshu before the last Lost Pages ended.)

Wizard Mercury learned of Formori Giants in the High Road that were cursed and spellwrit, so she worked hard to freeze these mythic beasts, but they had many terrifying moves. Her Frost Giant over-worked to get every last one of the spellwritten defeated and claimed the Lost Page of Folklore.

(Yeah, it's Myth... I hate Myth. You know why?)

(THEY HAVE A SPELL THAT DESTROYS ALL YOUR BLADES EVEN IF YOU LIVE! (more unsightly cussing) I had enough of that (bleep) from the Winged Tooth Knights! :(]

After a difficult gauntlet of battles with the giant spellwritten, Wizard Mercury claimed the Lost Page of Folklore and returned it to Harold Argleston, who directed her to Arthur Wethersfield to activate the next Dee's Mirror on the High Road, which lead to an extra-dimensional castle where, after defeating two more Spellwrit Fomori, she came face to face with their leader, Quinn Legendbreaker.

"I will not allow you and that curse to twist any more innocent lives! I will freeze your legends and shatter into a million shards of ice! The warrior of love and genius, I am Wizard Mercury! Douse yourself in water and REPENT!"

The battle was the toughest yet as Mercury's icy powers were deflected by the twisted Quinn, but eventually she used cunning strategy (she was the smartest of the Scouts, mind you) and exorcised the evil from the poor Conjurer student created by the Lost Page of Folklore!

(I sincerely apologize for the bad quality picture of Quinn. I had to rip it from a Youtube video due to a situation - when Amy entered the arena she was PULLED INTO BATTLE! Yep, she got pulled into the fight and the shot showed them in battle, so I had to cheat a bit. Sorry. Worse, I thought I could switch to her boss deck before the fight. NOPE! :p So all she had to attack with were Frost Giants, which sucked because Quinn RESISTS ICE DAMAGE!!! Luckily she had an ally in Myrna Crow, a fellow Thaumaturge, and we eventually wittled her health down to zero. Sadly, I did not get any good shots of the battle or Quinn's defeat. UGH. <_>)

The greatest battle was yet to come for the Wizard Scouts, for now all that remained was the leader of the Society, Bentley Daysong and the Lost Page of Embers...

[The final chapter is coming up!]

The Adventures of Wizard Moon: The Virtuous Spritethief

(The fourth chapter of the Lost Pages posts is here! These last three were very tough for my wizards who could access them as the enemies could get power pips, but we soldier on!)

Ah, I love spring... oh sorry, I was distracted. *giggle*

My name is Sierra Fairyfriend, age 16, and I attend Ravenwood Academy. I have some powerful super sentai girls who single-handedly defeated the Carpe Diem society! The toughest battles were yet to come, and it would come down to sheer will and stamina as well as luck as skill...

In the Floating Land of Celestia, probably the only landmass in that world as it had been flooded by the Titan of Storm long ago - a community of vicious jungle Wildclaws lived. But when the Lost Pages had scattered, the Life Page, the Lost Page of Ardor, came here and spellwrit some of these vicious beasts. It was up to the mighty Wizard Venus to use her powers of Myth and Love to defeat them and recover the cursed artifact!

(Actually played through Celestia some more to get Mindy Goldheart up to this place. I had already completed the rest of the Lost Pages events with Amy so I could afford to slow down, as the event didn't end until later, and I wanted to get my neglected wizards a little more attention.)

She recovered the Lost Page and with the help of Arthur Wethersfield, she used Dee's Mirror to locate a hidden cove in the Floating Land and invaded the cave therein, coming face to face with the cursed Theurgist student, Carson Spritethief.

"You have some nerve to threaten a lady like that, Carson! But I know it's not you, it's the curse on you, and with my power of love, I will shatter it to bits! I am the pretty soldier of love, Wizard Venus! I will punish this curse!"

The curse had other ideas but, despite the struggle and the loss of an ally, Venus prevailed and released the poor lad from the vile curse upon him by the Lost Page of Ardor.

[(cusses incessantly) CLOSEST. BATTLE. EVER!!! Chris Storycrafter, who was helping her out, got KO'd by Carson who did A CRITICAL HIT LUMINOUS WEAVER THAT DID 2312 DAMAGE TO HIM, TAKING OUT HIS LIFE POINTS!!! (more cussing) And Mindy didn't invest in Life and her treasure cards were all attack cards, so Chris had to abandon her. She ate a Centaur and dropped to below a thousand health before getting lucky and throwing out another Otomo Fury to finish him off - even though the Rubble Rouser survived Chris's Judgement attack, it was at 11 health so Mindy was able to spend a round to cut it down before it started debuffing her with Life Traps and costing her the battle, but we were VERY lucky.]

[PHEW! And that was hte last Lost Pages event I needed to give my wizards as everyone else had completed the Lost Pages that they could. I found out that you have to have unlocked the worlds before you can get the Spellwrit quests or the NPCs won't give you the quests. Sorry, that's KI making sure you do not sequence break if you don't have access to the worlds. Whew, sorry for the wall of text.]

[To be continued...]
